Charis Damiano - Consultant
Charis Damiano is a Consultant specialising in employment and
partnership law.
Charis regularly advises both employers and individuals on issues of
discrimination, maternity issues, unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal,
restrictive covenants, redundancies, bonus disputes and various contractual
matters.
She also has particular experience of the following:
- running and defending complex discrimination claims in the
employment tribunal. She acted for a doctor who was awarded a six figure sum
in compensation after being successful in claims for race and sex
discrimination against a NHS Trust;
- drafting contracts and HR policies for companies and advising on the
impact of the new discrimination laws and statutory grievance and
disciplinary procedures on the application of these policies;
- advising senior executives on the termination of their employment
and negotiating severance packages;
- advising companies how to avoid grievance disputes becoming
litigious; and
- advising international companies with subsidiaries based in the UK,
particularly US companies on how to terminate employees fairly and avoid
unfair dismissal claims.
- advising employees with cross-border employment claims.
Charis has regularly lectured on a wide range of employment issues, been
involved in workshops and published various articles for legal publications.
She is a Member of the American Bar
Association (International Law and Labor and Employment Law Divisions).
Charis completed her training contract at a national law firm and joined the
employment department on qualification in 2003. In 2004, she moved to a city
law firm for two years before joining CM Murray LLP.
