CM Murray LLP, a leading specialist law firm in partnership, employment and regulatory law, has expanded its practice with the appointment of Emma Sangeelee as a Partner, effective 2 June 2025. Emma’s arrival marks a significant strategic enhancement to CM Murray’s market-leading bench strength in complex partnership and employment litigation, particularly in the private equity and professional services sectors. Emma joins the firm from Edwin Coe LLP, where she was a partner in the employment and partnership disputes team.
With over 15 years’ experience, Emma is widely recognised for her expertise in advising on high-stakes partner discrimination and whistleblowing claims, remuneration structures including carried interest, and the enforceability of post-termination restraints. She is also highly regarded for her work advising partners on the negotiation of partnership deeds and transitions into new roles.
Clare Murray, Managing Partner of CM Murray LLP, commented:
“We are thrilled to welcome Emma to the partnership. Her deep expertise in contentious partnership and employment matters, particularly in the private equity space, aligns perfectly with our strategic focus and client needs. Emma’s arrival further reinforces our position as the go-to firm for senior executives and partnerships navigating complex disputes and transitions.”
Emma’s appointment follows a period of sustained growth for the firm, including the recent arrival of leading Regulatory and Professional Discipline Partner Nick Leale and the launch of the firm’s Regulatory Unit. The addition of Emma reflects CM Murray’s continued investment in top-tier talent to meet increasing client demand for specialist advice in high-value, sensitive matters.
Emma Sangeelee said:
“I am excited to be joining CM Murray LLP, a firm I have long admired for its exceptional reputation and collaborative culture. I look forward to working with Clare and the team to support clients through their most challenging partnership and employment issues.”
Emma’s appointment is part of CM Murray’s broader strategic plan to deepen its capabilities in partnership disputes and to expand its offering to private equity clients and senior executives across sectors.
Emma will be participating in the panel Dad Shift: Global Trends in Parental Leave and Their Impact on Work and Family Life at the forthcoming 6th Annual IFSEA Conference on Risk, Reputation & Ethical Leadership Issues for Executives, Founders & their Advisers, taking place on 17 June 2025 in London.
