“Rising Star” SRA regulatory specialist, Andrew Pavlovic, joins CM Murray LLP

Top partnership and employment law firm CM Murray LLP has expanded its practice with the key strategic appointment of leading SRA professional discipline and regulatory specialist, Andrew Pavlovic. He joins the firm as a Partner, having previously spent 11 years at his previous firm specialising in professional discipline and regulatory investigations.

With this appointment, CM Murray LLP continues its trajectory of growth – the addition of a regulatory and professional discipline specialist, completing a full service offering to partnership and LLP clients in their sensitive partnership investigations, partnership structuring including LLP and ABS conversions and law firm mergers, while further strengthening its Tier 1 partnership law and employment (senior executive) law practices.

Recognised by Legal 500 UK 2021 & 2022 as a “Rising Star” in the field of professional discipline, Andrew has substantial regulatory experience, having acted at his previous firm for the Solicitors Regulation Authority over several years in complex disciplinary proceedings and subsequent appeals. He has experience of acting for the SRA in obtaining injunctions, including in the high-profile case of The Law Society (Solicitors Regulation Authority) v Dixit Shah (AKA Sanjay Shah) [2014] EWHC 4382 (Ch), which has been described as “unprecedented” and “ground-breaking” by the legal press.

Andrew’s exposure to the methods of the SRA and their approach to cases puts him in a strong position when advising both firms and lawyers who are subject to such investigations. He advises both firms and individuals subject to regulatory investigations on their duty to comply with investigations, the obligation to self-report, and negotiating settlement agreements with regulators.

Andrew also brings to CM Murray LLP strong expertise in commercial litigation, where he has acted for a wide range of clients, including law firms and partners, high-net-worth individuals, companies, charities and regulators.  He has considerable experience in civil fraud cases involving injunctive relief, and is a member of the Commercial Fraud Lawyers Association. He also advises on defamation and reputation management issues, contractual and financial disputes and professional negligence claims.

Clare Murray, Founder and Managing Partner of CM Murray LLP, commented on the appointment:

So much of our specialist partnership work for professional services firms, and their partners, involves regulatory and professional discipline issues which carry legal and reputational risk. Andrew’s specialisation is the perfect complement to our existing partnership employment expertise, so that our clients will receive seamless advice and support in some of their most difficult, complex and often distressing professional circumstances. Andrew’s vast regulatory and professional discipline experience is a strong and very important strategic addition to our practice – providing a full spectrum of support to our clients, and an important step forward in our story of continued growth.”

Andrew Pavlovic commented:

“CM Murray has an unrivalled reputation as partnership and employment law specialists, and I am hugely excited to take this opportunity to be a part of such a highly regarded team and to contribute to future successes for the firm.”
