Sexual Harassment in the Healthcare Sector: Ten-Minute Talk

In recent news reports, a major analysis of NHS staff found that almost one in three female surgeons have reported being sexually assaulted in the past five years whilst operating and, in some cases, sexually harassed, assaulted and raped by colleagues.

In this Ten-Minute Talk, Partners Emma Bartlett and Beth Hale discuss the recent reports, in particular:

  • What is the regulator, the General Medical Council (GMC), doing to tackle these issues?

  • What is the government doing about it?

  • What protections are in place for whistleblowers?

  • What protection or support do complainants or witnesses need when reporting bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct, and also for the alleged perpetrator?

If you have any questions arising from this video or would like to discuss any issues relating to bullying, harassment or sexual misconduct further, please contact Partners Emma Bartlett or Beth Hale.
